   Lumi i Tiranёs ёshtё zorra e trashё e kryeqytetit shqiptar. Kur dёgjojnё tё flitet pёr Lumin e Tiranёs thuajse tё gjithё shqiptarёt, madje edhe tiranasit, mendojnё se bёhet fjalё pёr Lanёn. Edhe pse era e padurueshme qё i bashkon mund tё çorjentojё, Lana ёshtё tepёr e dukshme, tepёr nё sipёrfaqe tё qytetit pёr tu ngatёrruar me Lumin e Tiranёs; Lana ёshtё pjesё e fasadёs dhe me goxha makjazh tashmё. Nё Lumin e Tiranёs – qё rrjedh prej Dajtit duke pёrshkuar Babrunё, Paskuqanin, etj., deri sa merr emrin e Ishmit pёr tu derdhur sёfundmi nё Adriatik – pёrfundojnё jo vetёm jashtёqitjet njerёzore, por tё gjitha plehёrat e kryeqytetit (i pёrqёndruar tashmё ekskluzivisht nё konsumerizёm) qё pasurojnё gamёn e gjerё tё erёrave thumbuese.

   Njё herё e njё kohё burim energjie – me çentralin hidroelektrik “Lenin” – tashmё kloakё nё qiell tё hapur – qё shkarkon nё det, si njё zorrё e trashё madhёshtore, fekalet e kryeqytetit shqiptar – ky lum ёshtё emblema e transformimeve radikale tё njё vendi tё tёrё. Prej kohёsh kufi periferik i Tiranёs, dhe – deri para pak vitesh – pikё takimi pёr qindra tё rinj qё kёrkonin freskinё nё ditёt e nxehta tё verёs tiranase, tashmё ky lum po jep shpirt mes qindra ndёrtimesh abuzive qё shtyhen gjithnjё e mё shumё duke u dendёsuar drejt qendrёs kryeqytetase.

   Nё shoqёrinё shqiptare pesёdhjet vjet shtrёngesash tё detyrueshme – ekonomike, shoqёrore dhe kulturore – prej njё shteti pseudo-komunist kanё sjellё si rrjedhojё tё natyrshme boumerang-un e grykёsisё bulimike tё tranzicionit tё sotёm pseudo-demokratik.

   Tё dyja periudhat e sipёrpёrmendura mund tё lexohen nёn lupёn e njё emёruesi tё pёrbashkёt: kushtet e pandryshueshme tё “jevgjёve” dhe “gabelёve”. Janё kёta qё banojnё “bregun e Lumit” (sintagmё metonimike kjo qё nё Tiranё i kategorizon etnikisht). Qё prej shekullit tё kaluar kёta lindin, ushqehen, martohen, bёjnё fёmijё dhe vdesin nё bregun e Lumit tё Tiranёs. Por sёshpejti kjo popullatё e rropullive do tё dёbohet, kush e di se ku, pёr shkak tё bonifikimit tё territorit nё fjalё.

   Kjo vepёr e parё – qё i dedikohet atyre tё “bregut tё Lumit” –, duke qenё se ёshtё edhe impulsi i parё konativ i njё serie artistike, kёrkon tё zgjojё impulse konjitive dhe emotive nё shoqёrinё shqiptare – gjithnjё e mё shumё pre e njё qarku tё shkurtёr konsumerist-tё patretshёm-zorrёsh – dhe ta fokusojё nё rrjedhёn e natyrshme tё jetёs.

THE GUT

   Tirana’s River is the large intestine of the Albanian capital. Hearing of the River of Tirana almost all Albanians, and even Tirana’s inhabitants, automatically think of the Lana River. Although the common unbearable smell can mislead, Lana is too visible, too much on the surface of the capital to be confused with the real Tirana’s River; Lana is part of the façade and currently has a heavy dose of make-up. The River of Tirana instead – which flows from the Dajti mountain, slipping between Babru, Paskuqan, etc., to become Ishmi River, then pouring into the Adriatic sea – ends up being full not only of humans excrements, but the whole garbage of the capital (a city addressed exclusively to the consumerism) enriches the range of urticant smells.

Once, a source of energy – with the hydroelectric plant “Lenin” – now, an open sewer – which discharges to the sea, like a giant gut, the feces of the Albanian capital – this river is the emblem of the radical transformation of the entire country. Moreover, always a peripheral border of the city and – until few years ago – a bathing destination for hundreds of kids in search of coolness from the hot Tirana’s summer days, now it lies lifeless in the midst of thousands of illegal buildings that densify towards the center.

   In the Albanian society fifty years of forced hardship – economic, social, and cultural – inflicted by a pseudo-communist state have led to the natural omnivorous and bulimic boomerang of the pseudo-democratic transition of our days.

   The two periods, however, agree on a common denominator: the condition of the Roma and Egyptians (gabelёt dhe jevgjit). They are the ones who live by the “riverside” (bregu i lumit– a metonymic expression used to categorize them in Tirana). It goes back to the last century that these people are born, eat, get married, have children and die at the bank of the river. But soon this visceral population will be ejected, no one knows where, because of local reclamation.

   This first work – dedicated to the “riverside people” –, which is also the first conative impulse of an artistic series, tries to wake the cognitive and emotive impulses of Albanian society – increasingly lost in a consumerist-indigestible-intestinal short circuit – and focus it on the natural flow of life.
